Why Science Is Not Recognized In Nigeria

There have been numerous complaints over the lack of attention and investments on the part of the government on science and technology, but little do we realize that few people cares about science and technology.
How many Nigerians wake up in the morning and ever think of reading science magazines?! The saddening answer is very few. Why has other areas that has little-compared to science-to offer to the development of the Nigerian society gotten more attention.
For instance, consider entertainment and literature and consider the amount of international and intercontinental prize these areas have bagged. Consider how much work Nigerians writers have contributed to the world’s intellectual collections and consider how much waves our Nigerian actors music artiste and comedian are making worldwide.
Its no little wonder literature continues to make the wave even if most of its works are something to pass playtimes and it should not come as a surprise if entertainment stands strong in this nation even if all it has done so far is destroy and destroy the moral fabrics of this nation.
It as such that it occurs to me that areas lacking attention in this country should stop asking for it with words but with action and truly “Action speaks louder than words”.
I am not talking about meaningless strike actions. Do something great collectively and make it known. Nigerian scientists (Social, physical and medical) must build their respect by their contributions.
